ISSP office ISSP at BAS was created by a Decree No 362 / October 16, 1972, of the Ministry Council of Bulgaria.

The Georgi Nadjakov Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP) is specialized in fundamental and applied research in the field of laser physics, condensed matter physics, microelectronics, spectroscopy and optics.

The main scientific and applied achievements of the Institute are in the field of condensed matter physics, superconductivity and superconducting materials, solid state theory, theory of phase transitions, low temperature physics, liquid crystal physics, soft and living matter physics, structure and properties of crystals and amorphous materials, nanophysics, atom and plasma physics, integrated optics, acoustoelectric and microelectronic sensors, high precision thermometers, laser physics, optical fibres.

Every second year since 1980, ISSP organizes at the Black Sea coast an international School-Symposium on contemporary problems in condensed matter physics (ISCMP).

Visitors are welcome to "Academician Georgi Nadjakov" permanent exhibition in the Central building, room 210.
A reading room and exposition are arranged by the Museum. Physical apparatuses and artifacts are exhibited. Some posters with historical remarks are shown.
